CICHLID KINGDOM CANADA

Before the establishment of Cichlid Kingdom Canada, Rock Peng was an African cichlids enthusiast and breeder. He focused on the cichlids in Malawi and Tanganyika. He successfully breeds up to 40 different varieties of Malawi cichlids and 20 different varieties of Tanganyika cichlids. The various problems encountered during the breeding process include the sourcing of fish, funds management, and the difficulties with maintenance of the water quality. However, the most important is the source of the fish. It is difficult to find wild cichlids of good quality and moderate price in Canada. Many people imported them from United States, Europe, or Asia, which are then sold at high prices with y to match. Rock Peng firmly believes that as a responsible breeder, you must bring real wild fish to every enthusiast. Many people raise cichlids in Canada, but only a few are earnest breeders. As result, most consumers buy degraded fish as their display aquarium, which suffers from poor physical appearance and spoiled colors. It is unfortunate because local fish keepers have no way to know the true nature of the original African cichlids. Thus, Cichlids Kingdom Canada was officially established in July 2017.

Cichlid Kingdom Canada's desire is to offer you the best wild-caught Tanganyika cichlids and Malawi cichlids straight from the lake. By fortunate coincidence, Rock was introduced to a select few reliable fish exporters in Tanzania, Malawi, and Zambia through a good friend who is an engineer in Africa. During 2017-2019, Rock successfully helped local fish stores in Toronto import 15 boxes of wild African cichlids from Zambia. Local fish shops believe that the profits from wild cichlids are lower than those from tank raised, hindering the importation of wild cichlids. Rock persists in his goals to satisfy local cichlid enthusiasts and hopes that they will breed the “Canadian brand “of African cichlids.

December of 2020 Cichlid Kingdom Canada expanded to include a second aquarium. Our original focus of imports from Tanzania now includes species from Germany and other countries worldwide. As of 2021 we additionally include fish legally caught in Lake Malawi. We are proud to bring these fish into the Canadian market and announce that we are now exporting from Tanzanian waters to retailers globally. We hope you will continue to support us through our efforts.
